Description:
This is the Simris table lamp, designed by Anders Pehrson for Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden. First introduced in 1964, the Simris became one of the defining task lamps of Scandinavian mid-century design, known for its slender chromed frame, sliding counterweight mechanism, and cylindrical louvered shade that softens the light while minimizing glare.
This example is an early production model, identifiable by the on/off switch mounted directly on top of the lamp shade near the swivel joint. Later versions of the Simris does not have that, making this detail a useful marker for dating earlier production runs. The lamp features a two-socket system allowing multiple brightness levels, a chromed sliding rod with a knurled adjustment knob, and an oval base wrapped in leather that has developed a warm, natural patina over time.
The original manufacturer label is still attached to the underside of the base, confirming production by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden, with model reference 781 B-2 and a maximum rating of 2x40W.

This lamp is an original vintage piece. Prior to sale, a visual and functional inspection was carried out (cable, plug, socket, strain relief) as well as a test run. It has not been comprehensively tested in accordance with current VDE standards. Due to its age, the electrical components may pose risks (e.g. aged insulation, missing earth conductor). Before connecting to the 230V mains, it is therefore strongly recommended to have the lamp inspected and, if necessary, updated by a qualified electrician. Use is at the owner's own risk.
