Highlights: Manufacturer: Ateljé Lyktan, Åhus, Sweden Model: Supertube Height: 2 metres Period: 1960s Origin: Åhus, Sweden Style: Scandinavian Modern Particulars: Tall cylindrical tube form at 2 metres — the defining formal gesture of the Supertube is its height, which transforms the lamp into a vertical architectural element; Ateljé Lyktan's most monumental floor lamp design; a room-defining statement piece that works equally in period and contemporary interiors Ideal for: Living rooms, entrance halls, studios, loft spaces, Scandinavian and minimalist interiors, collectors of Swedish Mid-Century lighting, architects and interior designers
Description: The Supertube is Ateljé Lyktan at its most architecturally ambitious. Where most floor lamps address the room from a seated or standing human scale, the Supertube operates at a different register entirely: at 2 metres, it approaches the ceiling, transforming what might otherwise be a functional object into a vertical architectural element that organises the space around it. It is a lamp that changes a room simply by being present in it.
The design logic is one of extreme formal reduction: a cylinder, a base, a light source. Nothing is added that does not serve this logic. The cylindrical tube — in the restrained palette of Scandinavian Modern — diffuses the internal light source evenly across its full height, creating a column of soft, consistent luminosity rather than the directional pool of light that a conventional floor lamp produces. The effect is closer to an architectural light element than a domestic lamp, and it is this quality that has made the Supertube a perennial favourite among architects and interior designers who need a floor lamp to do something more than illuminate.
Ateljé Lyktan, founded in 1934 in Åhus, produced some of the most enduring designs in the Scandinavian Modern canon — from Anders Pehrson'sBumling to the Skarabé series. The Supertube represents the house's most formally rigorous statement: a design that relies entirely on proportion, scale and material quality, with no decorative supplement of any kind.
Condition: The lamp is in very good vintage condition. The cylindrical tube is intact. The base is stable. The electrical components have been visually and functionally inspected and tested; inspection by a qualified electrician is recommended before extended use.

Product Safety
This lamp is an original vintage piece. Prior to sale, a visual and functional inspection was carried out (cable, plug, socket, strain relief) as well as a test run. It has not been comprehensively tested in accordance with current VDE standards. Due to its age, the electrical components may pose risks (e.g. aged insulation, missing earth conductor). Before connecting to the 230V mains, it is therefore strongly recommended to have the lamp inspected and, if necessary, updated by a qualified electrician. Use is at the owner's own risk.
