Description: The Daum Voilier is among the finest expressions of what the Nancy manufactory achieved in its postwar crystal period — a period in which Daum, already celebrated for its Art Nouveau multi-layer etched glass, reinvented itself as a producer of sculptural crystal objects of remarkable formal ambition. The Voilier — French for sailing boat — takes its name from the asymmetric sail-like form of its crystal base: a shape that rises and curves with the organic confidence of a form discovered rather than designed, its interior structure catching and refracting light in a constantly shifting play of depth and brilliance.
Daum's crystal bases of the 1960s and 1970s are today among the most sought-after collector's pieces of French design glass. The weight and clarity of the crystal, the complexity of the three-dimensional interior refractive structure, and the formal vocabulary — shapes drawn from nature and abstraction in equal measure — place these pieces firmly in the tradition of French luxury craft that extends from Art Nouveau through Art Déco to Modernism. The Voilier is one of the most distinctive and most recognisable of these forms.
The original cream textile shade completes the lamp with a material warmth that contrasts beautifully with the cold brilliance of the crystal below, and diffuses the light with a softness that allows the crystal base to remain the visual centre of gravity. The original etched signature "Daum France" on the base is the guarantee of authenticity that Daum has applied to every piece since the company's foundation — here clearly legible and fully intact.
Daum was founded in 1878 in Nancy, France. Under Auguste and Antonin Daum, the manufactory became one of the three great masters of French Art Nouveau glass alongside Émile Gallé and René Lalique. The etched signature "Daum France" on every piece is a guarantee of authenticity and the highest artisanal quality.
Condition: The lamp is in very good vintage condition. The crystal base is intact with no cracks or chips. The three-dimensional interior refractive structure is fully preserved. The etched "Daum France" signature is clearly legible. The original cream textile shade is present and intact. The electrical components have been visually and functionally inspected and tested; inspection by a qualified electrician is recommended before extended use.

Product Safety
This lamp is an original vintage piece. Prior to sale, a visual and functional inspection was carried out (cable, plug, socket, strain relief) as well as a test run. It has not been comprehensively tested in accordance with current VDE standards. Due to its age, the electrical components may pose risks (e.g. aged insulation, missing earth conductor). Before connecting to the 230V mains, it is therefore strongly recommended to have the lamp inspected and, if necessary, updated by a qualified electrician. Use is at the owner's own risk.
