Description: This desk lamp by EWÅ Armaturfabrik Värnamo is a precise and characterful example of Swedish Mid-Century functionalism at its most resolved. Every element of the design is considered: the organically formed triangular cast base with its integrated push-button switch, the flexible brass gooseneck stem that allows infinite directional adjustment, and the conical shade finished in grey wrinkle lacquer with a circumferential perforation pattern that softens the light at its edges.
The wrinkle lacquer — a finish achieved through a controlled paint-shrinking process — gives the metal surfaces a tactile, almost sculptural quality that flat lacquer simply cannot match. It was widely used in Scandinavian industrial and lighting design of the 1950s for exactly this reason: it ages beautifully, acquiring a depth of character that only improves with time.
EWÅ Värnamo — founded by Erik Wärnå in Värnamo, Sweden — produced compact wall and table lamps in brass and lacquered metal that are today recognised as sought-after examples of Scandinavian Mid-Century lighting design. Their formal language is direct and functional, without ornamentation, and their craftsmanship is consistently high.
Condition: The lamp is in very good vintage condition. The grey wrinkle lacquer is intact and shows the characteristic depth of an original finish. The brass gooseneck is flexible and holds position. The integrated switch functions. The electrical components should be inspected by a qualified electrician before use.

Product Safety
This lamp is an original vintage piece. Prior to sale, a visual and functional inspection was carried out (cable, plug, socket, strain relief) as well as a test run. It has not been comprehensively tested in accordance with current VDE standards. Due to its age, the electrical components may pose risks (e.g. aged insulation, missing earth conductor). Before connecting to the 230V mains, it is therefore strongly recommended to have the lamp inspected and, if necessary, updated by a qualified electrician. Use is at the owner's own risk.
