Description: This ceramic lamp base by Leola Leuchten is a quietly distinctive piece of German Mid-Century design — one that rewards a closer look. The defining feature is its cross-section: a quatrefoil, or four-lobed form, with concave facets that catch and redirect light across the white ceramic surface in an endlessly varied play of shadow and highlight. It is a form with deep roots in decorative arts history, here reinterpreted with the restrained confidence of 1960s West German design.
Leola Leuchten, based in the Nuremberg/Fürth area of Bavaria, was among Germany's leading producers of high-quality design lamps during the 1960s and 1970s. Working with designers including the Italian industrial designer Gaetano Sciolari and Cari Zalloni, Leola produced pieces that navigated confidently between Mid-Century Modern restraint and the more exuberant language of Hollywood Regency. This ceramic base belongs to the quieter end of that spectrum — a piece defined by form rather than ornament.
The original Leola Design manufacturer's label is intact, confirming provenance. The brass fittings are in good condition. The base is sold without shade, offering the buyer the freedom to complete it according to their own interior vision — a wide-necked fabric shade in a period colour would be the natural complement.
Condition: The lamp base is in very good vintage condition. The white ceramic is intact with no cracks or chips. The brass fittings show light age-appropriate patina. The original label is present and legible. The electrical components should be inspected by a qualified electrician before use.

Product Safety
This lamp is an original vintage piece. Prior to sale, a visual and functional inspection was carried out (cable, plug, socket, strain relief) as well as a test run. It has not been comprehensively tested in accordance with current VDE standards. Due to its age, the electrical components may pose risks (e.g. aged insulation, missing earth conductor). Before connecting to the 230V mains, it is therefore strongly recommended to have the lamp inspected and, if necessary, updated by a qualified electrician. Use is at the owner's own risk.
Manufacturer
Leola Leuchten is a German lighting manufacturer based in the greater Nuremberg/Fürth area (Bavaria), which was among the leading producers of high-quality design lamps in Germany, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s. The company stands for products manufactured in Germany and the symbiosis of form and light. Leola's heyday coincided with the era of Mid-Century Modern and Hollywood Regency: ceramics, brass, chrome and glass were the preferred materials, and the formal language ranged from sculptural-organic to Space Age style. Among the notable designers who created for Leola was the Italian industrial designer Gaetano Sciolari (1927–1994), whose glamorous brass and chrome lamps are today internationally sought-after collector's pieces. Leola also collaborated with designer Cari Zalloni, who designed for the company, among other things, characteristic ceramic wall lights in the Sputnik style. Leola lamps from this period are today present on international design platforms such as Pamono and 1stDibs, achieving corresponding collector's values as sought-after vintage objects.
