Collectible Lumina "Zelig Terra" Floor Lamp by Walter Monici — Halogen, White, Italy, 1990s
Sculptural floor lamp "Zelig Terra" by Walter Monici for Lumina, Italy, 1990s. This rare, discontinued architect's lamp combines a long counterbalanced articulated arm with maximum adjustability and a reduced, technical aesthetic — ideal as a task or statement lamp in modern interiors.
Highlights:Model "Zelig Terra" by Walter Monici for Lumina, designed 1990 White version of the rare, no-longer-produced architect's lamp Long two-part articulated arm with counterweight and rotatable lamp head Precise beam direction via two-stage switch Ideal as a task light, reading lamp, or sculptural design object
Description: The Zelig floor lamp was developed in 1990 by Italian designer Walter Monici for Lumina. Its construction is based on a system of tension and counterbalance: a slender base supports two long articulated arms, at the end of which sits a compact reflector head. By adjusting the joints and balancing the counterweight, the beam can be positioned almost freely in space without the lamp losing stability. In the white version, the Zelig has a particularly graphic and lightweight presence. The lamp head rotates on two axes, allowing light to be directed precisely onto a work surface, book, or object. Depending on the variant, the lamp features a simple on/off switch or a two-stage switch/dimmer in the base. With its clear, technical character, the Zelig is an excellent task light for office or studio — and makes an equally compelling sculptural statement on a sideboard or console.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related patina. Usage marks on lacquer and metal — minor scratches and minimal abrasion — without significant damage. The arm adjusts smoothly, the counterweight functions correctly, and the switch works perfectly. Note: the lamp head has discoloured to grey due to heat from the bulb and is no longer white — see photographs. Fully functional.

Product Safety
This lamp is an original vintage piece. Prior to sale, a visual and functional inspection was carried out (cable, plug, socket, strain relief) as well as a test run. It has not been comprehensively tested in accordance with current VDE standards. Due to its age, the electrical components may pose risks (e.g. aged insulation, missing earth conductor). Before connecting to the 230V mains, it is therefore strongly recommended to have the lamp inspected and, if necessary, updated by a qualified electrician. Use is at the owner's own risk.
Manufacturer
Lumina is an Italian lighting manufacturer based in Arluno near Milan, founded in 1980 by Tommaso Cimini. The starting point of the company's history was the table lamp "Daphine", designed in 1975, which became an icon of Italian industrial design thanks to its reduced construction and high functionality. To this day, Lumina follows the principle of "maximum light, minimum lamp" – function determines form. Production takes place predominantly in Italy, using high-quality materials and in collaboration with international designers, resulting in a range of technically refined and formally restrained lighting programmes.
