Description: This table lamp was designed by Bertil Brisborg for the renowned Swedish department store Nordiska Kompaniet, which produced numerous high-quality lamps to his designs throughout the 1940s and 50s. Particularly characteristic are the round brass base with integrated push switch, the slender hand-turned wooden shaft, and the flexible brass gooseneck above it that carries the cream-lacquered metal shade. The lamp unites warm, functional task lighting with the clear, elegant design language of Swedish Modern, and works equally well as a usable desk lamp and as a decorative collector's piece. In the room it reads as calm, elegant, and lightly sculptural. It is particularly effective on a desk, side table, or sideboard, ideal in combination with light woods, brass accents, and other Scandinavian Mid-Century elements.
Condition: Age-appropriate good vintage condition with normal patina and signs of use. Brass parts show tarnishing and minor scratches; the shade displays occasional spots, light discolouration, and small paint marks; the wooden shaft is well preserved with fine, natural ageing. The cable has already been renewed with a textile-covered replacement; the electrics are functional but should be inspected by a qualified electrician before use.

Product Safety
This lamp is an original vintage piece. Prior to sale, a visual and functional inspection was carried out (cable, plug, socket, strain relief) as well as a test run. It has not been comprehensively tested in accordance with current VDE standards. Due to its age, the electrical components may pose risks (e.g. aged insulation, missing earth conductor). Before connecting to the 230V mains, it is therefore strongly recommended to have the lamp inspected and, if necessary, updated by a qualified electrician. Use is at the owner's own risk.
Manufacturer
Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) is a Swedish heritage house founded in Stockholm in 1902, which established itself early as a platform for high-quality furniture and lighting design. From the 1920s onwards, furniture and lamps were created in the company's own workshops, designed by renowned designers such as Erik Tidstrand and Bertil Brisborg, who played a significant role in shaping Scandinavian Functionalism and the Scandinavian Modern style. Original NK lamps from the 1930s to 1960s are today sought-after collector's pieces and represent a combination of clear formal language, high material quality and timeless elegance.
