Description: The Hollywood Block by Brand van Egmond is not a lamp that occupies a room. It is a lamp that defines one. Designed by William Brand — architect, sculptor and founder of Brand van Egmond in Naarden in 1989 — the Hollywood Block belongs to a body of work that has placed Brand van Egmond's light sculptures in the lobbies of leading hotels, in private residences of international collectors and in the showrooms of the world's most prestigious interior design firms.
The lamp is built from handwelded steel rods formed into an organic structure of interwoven branch-like elements finished in dark bronze. Every weld point is visible — this is not a design that conceals its making, but one that celebrates it. The result is a pendant light that reads simultaneously as an industrial object and a natural form: a contradiction that Brand van Egmond has made its own. The light source sits within the structure, visible through the interstices of the steel mesh, casting shadows of remarkable complexity and warmth across any surface it reaches.
At 47 × 23 × 23 cm the Hollywood Block is a statement piece of considered scale — large enough to command attention in a dining room or entrance hall, compact enough to work in a domestic setting without overwhelming it. The dark bronze finish deepens with the patina of time, making this a lamp that becomes more itself as it ages.
Brand van Egmond was founded in 1989 by architect and sculptor William Brand. The studio in Naarden produces sculptural chandeliers, pendants and wall lights as bespoke individual pieces or small series, combining expressive organic forms with the highest standards of metal craft. Brand van Egmond pieces are found in leading hotels and private residences worldwide.
Condition: The lamp is in very good vintage condition. The handwelded steel structure is intact throughout. The dark bronze finish shows appropriate age patina. The electrical components have been visually and functionally inspected and tested; inspection by a qualified electrician is recommended before extended use.

Product Safety
This lamp is an original vintage piece. Prior to sale, a visual and functional inspection was carried out (cable, plug, socket, strain relief) as well as a test run. It has not been comprehensively tested in accordance with current VDE standards. Due to its age, the electrical components may pose risks (e.g. aged insulation, missing earth conductor). Before connecting to the 230V mains, it is therefore strongly recommended to have the lamp inspected and, if necessary, updated by a qualified electrician. Use is at the owner's own risk.
