Description:
The Brand van Egmond Hollywood wall sconces occupy a different register from the Hollywood Block pendant. Where the pendant is a study in pure structure, the wall sconces introduce a new element: crystal glass drops suspended within the handwelded bronze branch network, catching and refracting light in a way that transforms the wall surface behind them into something constantly in motion. It is a considered elaboration of the Hollywood design language — the same organic branch structure, the same dark bronze finish, but now with a material counterpoint that gives the pieces a more decorative, more celebratory character.
This set consists of two sconces of different sizes — a pairing that Brand van Egmond employed to give installations a natural, asymmetric rhythm that mirrors the variability of organic growth. Installed together, the two sizes create a wall composition of genuine sophistication; the larger sconce anchors the arrangement while the smaller one extends it.
The handwelded steel structure is built from rods formed into branch-like elements finished in dark bronze — a finish that deepens with age and reads differently under natural and artificial light. The crystal glass drops are suspended from the branch tips and lower elements, multiplying the light source into a constellation of small reflections. Every weld point is visible; this is a design that does not conceal its making.
Brand van Egmond was founded in 1989 by architect and sculptor William Brand in Naarden. The studio produces sculptural light objects as bespoke individual pieces or small series for private residences, leading hotels and representative spaces worldwide. These wall sconces represent the Hollywood collection at its most refined.
Condition:
Both sconces are in very good vintage condition. The handwelded steel structures are intact. The dark bronze finish shows appropriate age patina. The crystal glass drops are present and intact.
