Gebrüder Cosack Model 4166/02 – Designed by H.W. Egger, Germany 1960s
Highlights:
Rare model 4166/02 by Gebrüder Cosack, one of Germany's most awarded lighting manufacturers. Designer attribution confirmed: H.W. Egger (Hans Wilfried Hegger). Sold as a matching pair.
Description:
Four chrome-finished arms extend horizontally from a concave cylindrical wall bracket, each terminating in a precision-faceted bullet socket. Two arms point upward, two downward, creating a perfectly balanced vertical composition that reads as a pure line drawing when mounted. The concave barrel mount is finished in high-gloss chrome with a strongly reflective surface. Space Age minimalism at its most resolved – equally at home in a modernist interior as in a contemporary setting that calls for architectural contrast.
Gebrüder Cosack was founded in 1848 in Neheim-Hüsten, the most important centre of the German lighting industry in the 20th century. The company received 15 iF Design Awards and collaborated with designers including Wilhelm Wagenfeld. Model 4166/02 was designed by the architect H.W. Egger and represents the restrained, structural side of Cosack's output – a counterpoint to the more decorative Cosack pieces of the same era.
Condition:
Both sconces show surface scratches across the chrome consistent with age and use. On one of the two sconces, the chrome has cracked and lifts slightly at two of the four arms – invisible from the front, barely detectable from the rear, but noticeable to the touch. Two arms on one sconce show slight bending and can be safely straightened with gentle heat application. Original wiring is intact and a successful function test has been carried out. Rewiring is strongly recommended before installation. Condition is reflected in the price.

Product Safety
This lamp is an original vintage piece. Prior to sale, a visual and functional inspection was carried out (cable, plug, socket, strain relief) as well as a test run. It has not been comprehensively tested in accordance with current VDE standards. Due to its age, the electrical components may pose risks (e.g. aged insulation, missing earth conductor). Before connecting to the 230V mains, it is therefore strongly recommended to have the lamp inspected and, if necessary, updated by a qualified electrician. Use is at the owner's own risk.
